It’s been an exciting year for Princess Beatrice, and while she didn’t get the wedding she dreamt of she did get to marry the man of her dreams.
Her new husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, has been a family friend since he was a child, so is no stranger to royal life.
But obviously marrying a princess means there will be some exciting new parts of his life – like attending official events and getting the best seats in the house for royal celebrations.
Last year he got a sneak peek at one of the family’s favourite days out – even though tradition says he shouldn’t actually have been there.
On Christmas morning, the Queen and her relatives come together for a service at St Mary Magdalene Church in Sandringham before they head back to the estate for their private festivities.
Well-wishers line the road to get a glimpse of the family and to give them flowers and wish them a merry Christmas.
Prince George and Princess Charlotte made their debut last year, but millionaire property developer Edo was also there, having becoming engaged to Beatrice in September.
Invites to the family’s private Sandringham celebrations are reserved for members of The Firm, and partners normally have to wait until they are married to join in.
However Prince Harry broke this tradition in 2017 by inviting his bride-to-be Meghan Markle ahead of their wedding, paving the way for Beatrice to do the same with Edo.
Meghan joined the Royals for the 2017 three-day Norfolk celebration as her own family were miles away in America.
Although breaking traditional protocol, PR advisors insisted it was a necessary gesture to avoid ill feeling or, worse, a PR storm.
Kate Middleton and Mike Tindall on the other hand had to wait until they had their Welsh gold rings firmly on their fingers before being allowed to tuck into that royal turkey.
Speaking at the time, royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams told Express.co.uk : “In 2010 Kate was not invited to do so after her engagement to William nor was Mike Tindall after his to the Princess Royal’s daughter Zara Phillips and only spouses and close family are usually invited.

“However Harry and Meghan will be living together at Nottingham Cottage at Kensington Palace and her family are in the United States. The monarchy relies heavily on precedent and tradition but it also makes its own.”
Beatrice and Edo announced their engagement in September after a whirlwind romance, with him popping the question during a luxury holiday in Italy.
The couple said: “We are extremely happy to be able to share the news of our recent engagement.
“We are both so excited to be embarking on this life adventure together and can’t wait to be married.
“We share so many similar interests and values and we know this will stand us in great stead for the years ahead, full of love and happiness.”
Their original wedding plans were cancelled due to the pandemic, but they managed to have a lockdown-friendly small ceremony in Windsor later in the year.
A handful of guests joined the couple for the day, including the Queen and Prince Philip.
